Aria Project 300 MW – 2023

Ameresco Sunel Energy has commenced construction, since December 2023, on the portfolio of multiple solar photovoltaic (PV) park projects of renewable energy producer Sonnedix in the UK.

The five ground-mounted solar PV parks under construction are Lawns Solar Farm, Winkburn Solar Farm, Gammaton Solar Farm, Cowley Complex, and Gonerby Solar. The total capacity of the solar farms is 300 MWp with individual capacities ranging in size from 20 MW to 120 MW. The sites are located in County Durham, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, North Devon and Lancashire.

The plants have already been contracted under the UK Government’s Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme via 15-year agreements with the Low Carbon Contracts Company, according to a press release.

The sites are scheduled to become operational in early 2025. Once switched on, they will produce 300,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, enough to meet the needs of 85,000 UK homes while eliminating 58,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
