    Your duties as an assistant accountant will be:

    • AP management: invoice processing, supplier master data, good receipts (when applicable)

  • SITE LOGISTICS MANAGER – UNITED KINGDOM - 10/1/2020

    SUNEL UK Limited is seeking experienced site-based Logistics Managers to join its Construction Team for a large pipeline of UK-based projects. Site Logistics Managers work alongside the Site Engineers and under the Operations Team to co-ordinate and manage the on-site deliveries of all main equipment materials.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Co-ordinating the schedule of deliveries of main equipment to the solar project – to include, but not limited to, mounting structure, cables, solar panels, switchgear, inverters, transformers and medium voltage (MV) kiosks.
    • Working closely with the Operations Manager to ensure timely delivery of the equipment on site – including regular contact with forwarders and ports.
    • Checking the quantity and quality of materials received from all main equipment suppliers, reporting any deviations or damages to the Operations and Construction Project Manager
    • Manage the on-site banksmen to ensure that the equipment is delivered to the correct compound location
    • Oversee the unloading by the Main Subcontractor, reporting any damages to the Operations and Construction Project Managers.
    • Keeping meticulous spreadsheets of all main equipment received on the project, reporting back to the Operations Manager.
    • Pro-actively solve on-site delivery problems as they arise, escalating to Management where required
    • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly delivery reports and documentation for the Operations and Project Management Teams on delivered materials and projected deliveries.
    • Provide ad hoc support to the Site Engineers, Site Manager and Construction Project Manager as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Essential:

    • Proven track record of materials management in the construction industry (ideally solar plants), with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
    • Knowledge of Incoterms (2010)
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

    • Excellent communication and management skills
    • Fluency in English
    • Right to live and work in the UK

    Preferred:

    • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification

  • SOLAR PV CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER – MALAWI - 8/1/2020

    SUNEL Group is seeking an experienced Solar PV Construction Project Manager (CPM) to join its Construction Team to manage a large pipeline in Africa starting with a 26MW project in Malawi. The Construction Project Manager is based on site, and works alongside the Senior Project Manager, Site Engineers, Engineering and Construction Teams, as well as externally with the Subcontractors, Equipment Suppliers and the Client to ensure that a project is completed both on-schedule and in compliance with SUNEL’s quality standards.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Managing a project from start to finish, ensuring that it is delivered on-time and within the planned scope and budget
    • Carry out pre-condition site visits and surveys to establish site and local conditions which impact solar plant design
    • Research local supply costs to inform the construction budget
    • Review all information provided by the Client, in conjunction with the Engineering Team, to inform the plant design process and construction budget
    • Work with the Project Director to initially prepare and later manage the construction budget and project cashflow.
    • Develop a detailed schedule of works (SoW) to monitor project progress and indicate clearly when project milestones are reached.
    • Assist the Project Director with preparation and execution of supplier and subcontractor contracts (as required)
    • Assist the Project Director with managing contract negotiations, change orders, and other agreements with subcontractors and suppliers
    • Manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the Site Engineers and subcontractors ensuring that national HSE and Company quality standards (QAQC) are met
    • Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly progress reports in conjunction with the Site Engineers, with delivery to the Client and internal teams according to specified timescales
    • Assist the Project Director with managing relationships with the Client, ICP and developer to ensure smooth running of the project, and to ensure that the Company has clear insight into connection, permitting, and other regulatory compliance issues.
    • Proactively identify and solve problems as they arise, taking preventative measures to avoid risks to the project schedule and budget. Report to the Project Director any deviations from the schedule, budget or scope.
    • Manage the technical due diligence process at project completion in conjunction with the Engineering Team, according to Client requirements (creating and maintain comprehensive project documentation throughout Construction is expected)
    • Oversee the demobilisation and finishing works at the end of a project in conjunction with the Site Engineers
    • Handover of the project to SUNEL’s O&M team

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Essential:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or other related Engineering fields
    • Proven track record in the construction of solar parks, with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in large-scale ground mounted solar plants.
    • Knowledge of African Electrical Code and ESKOM requirements.
    • Fluent in English.
    • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
    • MS Project experience
    • Full driver’s license

    Preferred:

    • Certification in Project Management e.g. PMP/AMP/PRINCE II is considered an advantage
    • Knowledge of AUTOCAD
    • Experience with PV Tracker systems

    • Ability to interpret electrical, civil and mechanical construction drawings
    • Proven track record in the construction of solar plants, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in large-scale ground mounted solar plants (minimum 20MW)
    • Excellent management, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Fluency in English
    • Right to live and work in Malawi
    • Experience with PV Tracker systems
    • Full driver’s license
