  • SOLAR PV DESIGN ENGINEERS – ATHENS GREECE - 2/12/2019

    SUNEL Group is seeking experienced Solar PV Electrical and Civil Engineer Designers to join our Engineering Team for a large pipeline of solar PV projects, mainly in the United Kingdom and EMEA regions.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Critical analysis of project documentation to understand project design requirements – including planning documents, Client specifications, and research into local codes and standards in order to incorporate them into the design process.
    • Design of large-scale ground-mounted solar PV projects from 10-200MW to include:

    Electrical:

    • Preliminary layout of PV modules across site plots/fields
    • Preliminary electrical configuration and single line diagram (SLD)
    • Preliminary energy study (using PVSYST)
    • Interact with main equipment suppliers to answer and close technical queries in order to select equipment and proceed to orders
    • Requests for quotation (RFQs) to Suppliers in conjunction with the Construction Team
    • Executive design to include layouts, SLD, PVSYST, bill of materials, all construction details
    • Preparation of all documentation for technical due diligence with the Client’s Technical Advisor (in conjunction with the Project Manager)
    • Construction support to the Project Manager, Site Engineers, and subcontractors
    • Preparation of all as-built documentation in conjunction with the Construction Team

    Civil:

    • Design of civil foundations and bases for substations in accordance with local and national standards – elevations, cross sections, bills of materials (steel, concrete etc), construction details
    • Design of internal roads in accordance with local and national standards
    • Design of drainage layouts, in accordance with Flood Risk Assessment requirements
    • Critical review of geotechnical studies and pull-out tests to inform mounting structure foundations design (pile depth and cross sections), plus any reinforcements/pre-drilling needed
    • Design of trench cross sections (in conjunction with Electrical Engineers) in accordance with local and national standards

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Essential:

    • Master’s degree or Diploma in the Electrical / Civil Engineering
    • UK design experience – knowledge of electrical/civil local and national standards
    • Expert use of AUTOCAD software
    • Expert use of PVSYST (Electrical Designers)
    • Experience of LV and MV electrical schematics (Electrical Designers)
    • Experience of civil foundation, drainage design (Civil Engineers)
    • Proven track record in the design of large-solar plants 10MW+, with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in utility scale PV installations / civil installations
    • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Fluency in English and Greek

  • HSE SITE MANAGER – UNITED KINGDOM - 13/11/2019

    SUNEL UK Limited (SUNEL) is seeking experienced Site HSE Manager to join its Construction Team for a large pipeline of UK-based projects. Site HSE Manager work under the Project Management team to ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with UK HSE law, legislation and regulations. They will be expected to co-ordinate and manage all on-site construction operations to ensure that the project is completed both on-schedule and in compliance with SUNEL’s HSE Management Systems and standards.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Take the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) lead in ensuring “safe systems of work” and “safe conditions” are in place around the whole site. Advise SUNEL on dangerous practices and always gives alternative solutions of best practice.
    • Ensure the site is fully compliant with all health and safety (H&S) documentation in site office.
    • Manage all welfare on site, reporting defects to the supplier over unserviceability’s and issues.
    • Liaising with the Principal Contractor (PC), Site Engineers (SE), Construction Project Manager (PM), on-site contractors and the Client.
    • Coordinating and managing the safe setting up of works sites including welfare provisions.
    • Control and coordination of all site works and sub-contractors throughout the project – including ensuring that all plant/machines on site is maintained, driven and inspected daily in accordance with Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations.
    • Conducting site inspections daily, providing a written report.
    • Management of Risk Assessments and Method Statements – Undertake a thorough review of all subcontractors RAMS to ensure they have identified all foreseeable risks and implemented suitable control measures. Once reviewed approve for use.
    • Responsible for writing and maintaining the Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) throughout the project. Ensure that all waste removed from site has the correct Waste Transfer Note (WTN) number recorded onto the SWMP.
    • Issuing/surrendering permits to work and ensuring that they are always strictly adhered to.
    • Ensuring that the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan (CPHSP) is implemented and updated daily throughout the project, maintaining the site H&S folders.
    • Carry out site inductions to all workers/visitors prior to entering the site.
    • Conduct accident/incident investigation post incident and produce detailed report showing key findings, root cause and conclusions/recommendations.
    • Responsible for writing the weekly H&S Report and advising SUNEL when the company is potentially in breach of law, legislation and regulations – report to be delivered to the PM and HSE department on a weekly basis every Friday afternoon via email.
    • Act as Fire Marshall, ensure the site is fully compliant with all fire equipment in accordance with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
    • Act as Site First Aider ensure that First Aid Equipment on site is suitable and sufficient. Brief all personnel on first aid procedures including emergency location.
    • Coordinate any emergency procedures required on site, ensure that all relevant parties are informed of any accidents/incidents. Liaise with emergency responders.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Essential:

    • NEBOSH General Certificate NGC1, NGC2 & NGC3
    • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification
    • First Aid at Work Certificate
    • Proven track record in construction (solar plants desirable), with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience
    • Excellent management, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Fluency in English
    • Right to live and work in the UK
    • Full driver’s license

    • Pro-actively solve on-site delivery problems as they arise, escalating to Management where required
    • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly delivery reports and documentation for the Operations and Project Management Teams on delivered materials and projected deliveries.
    • Prove ad hoc support to the Site Engineers, Site Manager and Construction Project Manager as required.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Essential:

    • Proven track record of materials management in the construction industry (ideally solar plants), with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
    • Knowledge of Incoterms (2010)
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
    • Meticulous attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and management skills
    • Fluency in English
    • Right to live and work in the UK

    SUNEL UK Limited is seeking experienced Solar PV Construction Project Managers (PM) to join its Construction Team to manage a large pipeline of UK projects. The Construction Project Manager is based on site, and works alongside the Project Director, Site Engineers, Engineering and Construction Teams, as well as externally with the Subcontractors, Equipment Suppliers and the Client to ensure that a project is completed both on-schedule and in compliance with SUNEL’s quality standards.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Managing a project from start to finish, ensuring that it is delivered on-time and within the planned scope and budget
    • Carry out pre-condition site visits and surveys to establish site and local conditions which impact solar plant design
    • Research local supply costs to inform the construction budget
    • Review all information provided by the Client, in conjunction with the Engineering Team, to inform the plant design process and construction budget
    • Work with the Project Director to initially prepare and later manage the construction budget and project cashflow.
    • Develop a detailed schedule of works (SoW) to monitor project progress and indicate clearly when project milestones are reached.
    • Assist the Project Director with preparation and execution of supplier and subcontractor contracts (as required)
    • Assist the Project Director with managing contract negotiations, change orders, and other agreements with subcontractors and suppliers
    • Manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the Site Engineers and subcontractors ensuring that national HSE and Company quality standards (QAQC) are met
    • Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly progress reports in conjunction with the Site Engineers, with delivery to the Client and internal teams according to specified timescales
    • Assist the Project Director with managing relationships with the Client, ICP and developer to ensure smooth running of the project, and to ensure that the Company has clear insight into connection, permitting, and other regulatory compliance issues.
    • Proactively identify and solve problems as they arise, taking preventative measures to avoid risks to the project schedule and budget. Report to the Project Director any deviations from the schedule, budget or scope.
    • Manage the technical due diligence process at project completion in conjunction with the Engineering Team, according to Client requirements (creating and maintain comprehensive project documentation throughout Construction is expected)
    • Oversee the demobilisation and finishing works at the end of a project in conjunction with the Site Engineers
    • Handover of the project to SUNEL’s O&M team

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Essential:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or other related Engineering fields
    • Proven track record in the construction of solar parks, with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in large-scale ground mounted solar plants (min. 20MW)
    • Knowledge of UK National Electrical Code, solar permitting.
    • Fluent in English
    • Willingness to be based on-site in various locations across the UK.
    • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
    • Right to live and work in the UK without the need for visa sponsorship
    • Full driver’s license

    Preferred:
